Product Description

A zygo plant, also known as a Christmas or Thanksgiving cactus, is a tropical epiphyte with flat, segmented, green stems that are native to southeastern Brazil. It is popular as a houseplant for its vibrant, colorful, winter-blooming flowers, which can be white, pink, red, orange, or purple. These hardy succulents prefer bright, indirect light and well-draining soil, and require moderate watering—letting the soil dry slightly between waterings to prevent root rot. Physical characteristics
Stems: Flat, segmented, and typically a deep green color.Flowers: Tubular and striking, appearing in late fall to winter. They come in a wide range of colors like white, pink, red, orange, and purple.Growth
habit: Epiphytic, meaning they grow on other plants or objects in their natural habitat. They are well-suited for containers and hanging baskets
indoors.Fruit: After blooming, a fleshy fruit may form, containing small, black seeds. Care and habitat Light: Prefers bright, indirect light and should be protected from direct, harsh
sunlight.Watering: Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry. Allow excess water to drain completely to prevent root rot. Overwatering will cause problems, but wrinkled leaves can indicate it's too dry.Soil: Requires a well-draining soil mix, such as a succulent or cactus mix, to prevent waterlogging.
Temperature and humidity: Thrives in moderate temperatures and average to high humidity. It's not cold-tolerant and should be brought indoors if temperatures drop below.
Fertilizing: Feed with a mild houseplant fertilizer every other week during the growing season, especially when it's flowering.Flowering trigger: Bloom initiation is triggered by longer nights (12–14 hours of darkness) and cooler temperatures for several weeks, typically in late autumn. Consistent light exposure during the night can prevent flowering.
